    Display (This display shows all of the possible configurations.) : In the standby mode, the display shows the current time. (Ex. 12:00AM) : During a conversation, the call duration is displayed. (Ex. 2 hours, 14 minutes, 30 seconds) (RECALL) was pressed. (PAUSE) was pressed while storing phone numbers.

    Settings Installing the Batteries ≥Batteries are not included in the unit. ≥Install three high quality “LR6” Alkaline or “R6” Manganese batteries. We recommend to use Alkaline batteries.     Connecting a Communication Device If you connect a communication device (computer, modem, fax, answering machine, etc.) to the telephone line, you can connect it through this unit using the DATA jack. After connecting the handset and telephone line cord (p. 7), connect the communication device telephone line cord to the DATA jack.

    Programming Summary of Preparations You can program the following functions. The display shows the programming instructions. See the corresponding pages for function details.     Making Calls You can make a call by simply lifting the handset. To hang up, place the handset on the cradle. Dial a phone number. ≥The dialled number is displayed. ≥After a few seconds, the display will show the length of the call.

    One-Touch Dialler Storing Phone Numbers in Memory You can store up to 20 phone numbers in the one-touch auto dial buttons (10 numbers in UPPER memory locations, 10 numbers in LOWER memory locations). Do not press any one-touch auto dial buttons before storing to prevent misoperation.

    Special Features (PROGRAM) How to Use the PAUSE Button (For Analog PBX Line/Long Distance Service Users) We recommend you press a PBX or to access a long distance service. Ex. Line access number ¤ ¤ (PAUSE) ≥Pressing (PAUSE) once creates a few seconds pause. This prevents misdialling when you redial or dial a stored number.

    Dial Lock You can prevent others from making a call to any number except the one pre-programmed in the memory of the EMERGENCY button. Once you locked the dialling buttons, even emergency numbers cannot be dialled. Only incoming calls are accepted until the dial lock is cancelled. Before using this feature, we recommend storing an emergency number in the memory of the EMERGENCY button (p.

    ≥A long beep will sound and the unit will return to the standby mode. Using the Optional Headset Plugging the optional headset into the unit allows a hands-free phone conversation. Please use only a Panasonic KX-TCA87AL. Only telecommunications compliance labelled headsets should be plugged into the headset jack on the unit.

    You are authorised to install this Permitted Attachment yourself by plugging it into the line socket of any regular telephone. You may connect it in place of your existing telephone or to any spare telephone socket installed in your premises.
  • Page 35 You will be unable to connect this Permitted Attachment if your telephone service consists only of a wall phone or an old style telephone which is not connected by means of a modern plug and socket. In such cases a new socket will need to be installed.
