GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION
Intended Use
This Field Test Kit allows installers to quickly test the CO sensor on site. The CM-E1 design meets the NFPA 720-2009 standard
requiring CO sensor functionality and sensitivity testing effective 2012 and 2015 respectively.
Each person using this equipment must read and understand the information in these
equipment by untrained or unqualified persons, or use that is not in accordance with these User Instructions

CM-E1 TROUBLE INDICATOR
Internal failure of the CM-E1 will cause an open circuit in the normally closed (NC) Trouble Relay to provide for actuation of the
control panel circuits. The status LED will flash
CM-E1 ERRORS
internal power supply or a lack of power to the detector will result in the status light remaining OFF (not illuminated). In this case,
the most common cause of detector trouble would be a break in the wiring between the control panel and the CM-E1.
CM-E1 ERRORS
The CM-E1 continuously monitors various internal operating parameters. If a problem is found, the unit will switch to Trouble mode.
See
to the unit, wait a few seconds, then re-apply unit power. If the problem persists, your detector requires repair; contact the alarm
panel installer or 3M Macurco Tech Support for advice. If repair is required, return the unit to 3M to comply with warranty.
CM-E1 TESTING
The CM-E1 should be tested by pushing the

CM-E1 units are factory calibrated and 100% tested for proper operation. The unit also has the ability to automatically self test and
does so every 2 1/2 minutes. If the unit detects an improper voltage or inoperable component it will default into Trouble mode. See

3M™ Macurco™ warrants the CM-E1 field test kits will be free from defective materials and workmanship for a period of two
(2) years from date of manufacture (indicated on the glass bottle label), provided it is maintained and used in accordance with 3M
Macurco instructions and/or recommendations. If any component becomes defective during the warranty period, it will be replaced
or repaired free of charge, if the unit is returned in accordance with the instructions below. This warranty does not apply to units
that have been altered or had repair attempted, or that have been subjected to abuse, accidental or otherwise. The above warranty
is in lieu of all other express warranties, obligations or liabilities. THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS
FOR PARTICULAR PURPOSE ARE LIMITED TO A PERIOD OF TWO (2) YEARS FROM THE PURCHASE DATE. 3M Macurco shall not be
liable for any incidental or consequential damages for breach of this or any other warranty, express or implied, arising out of or
related to the use of said gas detector. Manufacturer or its agent's liability shall be limited to replacement or repair as set forth
above. Buyer's sole and exclusive remedies are return of the goods and repayment of the price, or repair and replacement of non-
conforming goods or parts.

Units to be tested must be powered continuously for a minimum of 3 minutes before proceeding.
For optimum test results the unit should be in clean air and be in a low ambient air flow. If the unit is reading more than 30ppm
it will not go into test mode, but will blink red on the LED and double beep every 15 seconds
Check that the CM-E1 status indicator light is illuminated Green continuously. If not, do not proceed with tests. See CM-E1

CM E1-FTG - 3M™ Carbon Monoxide Field Test Gas 11 L 500ppm CO/Air, Aerosol (for use with CM-E1 CO functionality test).
CM E1-FTK - 3M™ Carbon Monoxide Field Verification Gas Kit includes 17 L 200ppm CO/Air, regulator, test hood and
Tygon® tubing (for use with CM-E1 CO sensitivity test).
Quickly press the TEST/RESET button 5 times. The buzzer will do a double beep and the LED will flash Amber alternating
with a pause. The units will remain in this mode for 5 minutes or until it passes the quick test.
Aim the nozzle of the aerosol can at the buzzer grate area and press for 4 to 5 seconds (Fig. 1).
Green
Wait for a few seconds. The LED should blink
a pass of the quick test. If this does not occur, see

Assemble the gas, regulator and CM-E1 test hood if this has not already been done.
Quickly press the TEST/RESET button five times. The buzzer will do a double beep. Hold the button down for three seconds.
The LED will start to slowly blink
Amber.
Lift the front plastic on the CM-E1 until the buzzer is showing (Fig. 2).
Insert the CM-E1 test hood onto the end of the sensor just below the buzzer with the printed side of the hood facing the
buzzer (Fig. 3).
Turn on the gas. The LED should start rapidly blinking Amber once it has started to respond to the gas.
Wait for the Green LED to flash rapidly and a double beep from the buzzer every 15 seconds. If this does not occur, see

section.
Press the button once to return to normal sensing mode
Remove test hood.

Amber and the CM-E1 buzzer will emit a short "chirp" every 50 seconds. See
below. The CM-E1 microprocessor continuously monitors various detector parameters. Failure of the CM-E1's
CM-E1 TROUBLE INDICATOR above. To reset the unit for normal operation, press the TEST/RESET switch, or remove power
TEST/RESET switch; see TEST/RESET switch in CM-E1 ERRORS section above.
