    Servicing the Printer The Canon BJC-5100 Series Color Bubble Jet Printer is designed with the latest technology to provide trouble-free operation. The Warranty Card that comes with the printer describes Canon’s limited warranty for your Bubble Jet printer.     Printing Speed Versus Color The BJC-5100 Series Printer Driver for Windows can interpret and translate the full spectrum of colors, up to 16.7 million colors. When printing in color, there is a significant increase in the amount of information that the driver has to interpret and translate.

    Printing on envelopes Using Canon Specialty Papers To ensure the best performance of your printer, you’ll want to select the best paper and load it correctly. You can stack paper in the sheet feeder to load it automatically, or you can manually feed one sheet at a time from the back of the printer.

These cards are the same stock as Canon’s Glossy Photo Paper and have perforations around the printable area.     When automatically feeding stacks of paper, follow these guidelines: Do not open the front cover while printing. Do not leave paper stacked in the printer for long periods of time; longer sheets of paper may become bent or curled over time. This may cause the paper to misfeed or jam.

    Do not unplug the printer unnecessarily. Do not unplug the printer or turn off a power strip to which the printer is attached when the printer’s power is turned on. This may prevent the BJ cartridge from returning to the home position on the right and being capped, which may cause the print heads to dry out.

    Choosing Which BJ Cartridges to Use Your BJC-5100 Series printer holds two BJ cartridges. The BJ cartridge holders are labeled 1 and 2. The standard configuration is to install the BC-21e Color BJ Cartridge in Holder 1 and the BC-23 Enhanced Black BJ Cartridge in Holder 2.

    Glossary Automatic feed Refers to one way in which paper can be fed into the printer when the sheet feeder is used. BJ cartridge The printing mechanism that contains the print head unit and BJ tanks. Bubble Jet printing An ink jet type of printing that heats the ink to a boiling point in a nozzle to form a bubble.
