Adjusting the Digital Video Cassette Camera with JVC Service Support System Software Introduction JVC developed the Service Support System software to aid technicians in camera repair. All cameras now manufactured by JVC require a connection to a personal computer running JVC Service Support System software for electrical adjustments.

Insert the Floppy Disk containing the software into the computer’s Floppy Disk Drive. Using the Windows® Explorer or File Manager locate the Setup application on the Floppy Disk.

Digital Video Cassette Technology Starting the Software Use the following procedure to start the JVC Service Support System software. Set the camera’s Power Dial to the Play position. Start the JVC Service Support System software. Select the appropriate Serial Port in the Serial Port Configuration dialog box.

Digital Video Cassette Technology Set the zoom lens to the wide angle position by positioning the mouse pointer over the Zoom Wide toolbar button. Click and hold the left mouse button down, then click the right mouse button. The lens moves to the maximum wide angle position.

Notice how the image is affected with concealment turned off. What happens if you turn ATF off? What happens when you pause, fast forward or rewind the tape? Notice that the stop entry is removed from the list. If you were to choose to clear the list you could click the Clear button. Digital Video Cassette Technology Data Dump The Inspector window’s Rx tab provides a dump of raw status data. Select the Rx tab if it is not already selected. The window shows a dump of the camera’s sub-systems status. Click on the Arrow button under Dump mode. Notice that there are several sub-systems to choose from.

Use this window in conjunction with the Deck Controller window, to fully judge performance. Turn the camera’s Power Dial to the PLAY position. Load a previously recorded cassette. Play back the tape. Preparation Most Camera Processing adjustments require the JVC Infinity Adjustment Lens attached to the unit and to the JVC Light Box. The following procedure describes the JVC Light Box and Infinity Adjustment Lens setup. Remove the JVC Infinity Adjustment Lens from the unit. It is best to leave the Adapter Ring on the camera lens.
Rotary Ring of the Light Box. Loosen the Clamping Knob so the Rotary Ring is loose. Attach the JVC Infinity Adjustment Lens to the Light Box by screwing the open end onto the threaded section of the Rotary Ring.
