Thank you for purchasing an Olympus digital camera.

Please read these instructions carefully.

The camera you purchased is provided with the CD-ROM Instruction Manual.

For detailed information on all features and Provisions of warranty, please refer to the CD-ROM. Adobe Reader is required to view the Instruction Manual.

Charging the battery

Charging the battery

  • Unplug the charger when charging is complete.

Inserting and removing the battery and card

  1. Follow Steps 1 and 2 to open the battery/card compartment cover.
  • Turn off the camera before opening the battery/card compartment cover.

  1. Insert the battery while sliding the battery lock knob in the direction of the arrow.
  • Insert the battery as illustrated with the direction indicating mark toward the back side of the camera.
  • Slide the battery lock knob in the direction of the arrow to unlock, and then remove the battery.

  1. Insert the card straight until it clicks into place.
  • Always use SD/SDHC/SDXC cards or Eye-Fi card with this camera. Do not insert other types of memory cards.
  • Do not touch the metallic parts of the card directly.

  1. Follow Steps 1 and 2 to close battery/card compartment cover.

  • When using the camera, be sure to close the battery/card

Turning on the camera and making the initial settings

  1. After turning the camera on with the n button, select a language using and press the button.
  2. Use to select the year for [Y].
  3. Press to save the setting for [Y].
  4. As in Steps 2 and 3, use to set [M] (month), [D] (day), [Time] (hours and minutes), and [Y/M/D] (date order), and then press the button.
  • For precise time setting, press the A button as the time signal strikes 00 seconds.
  1. Use to select the [] time zone and then press thebutton.
  • Use to turn daylight saving time ([Summer]) on or off.

Taking photographs

  1. Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the camera.
    When the camera is turned on, the monitor will turn on.
  2. Set the mode dial to P.
  3. Frame the shot.
    The viewfi nder turns on and the monitor turns off automatically when you put your eye to the viewfi nder. You can also shoot with viewing the back monitor.
  4. Press the shutter button halfway down to focus.
    The camera was unable to focus if the AF target mark fl ashes red. Try focusing again.

  5. To take the picture, gently press the shutter button all the way down while being careful not to shake the camera.

  • If the display in the viewfi nder looks blurry, look through the viewfi nder and rotate the diopter adjustment dial until the display is in sharp focus.
  • You can also take photographs using the touch screen.

Viewing photographs

Press thebutton.

  • Your most recent photograph is displayed.
  • Press or turn the sub dial to select an image.

Erasing still images

Display an image you want to delete and press (). Select [Yes] and press .

Recording movies

Turn on the camera.

  1. Set the mode dial to P.
  2. Press the button to begin recording.
  3. Press the button again to end recording.

Movie playback

Turn on the camera.

  1. Press thebutton.
  2. Press or turn the sub dial to select the movie, and press the button.
  3. Select [Movie Play] and press to begin playback.
  • Press the button to pause, and press the MENU button to end the playback.

Pausing

  • Press the to display previous frame or next frame.
  • Press the to display the fi rst frame or the last frame.
  • Press the button to resume.

Volume can be adjusted by pressing F or G during singleframe and movie playback.

Flash

  1. Press the flash switch to pop up the flash unit.
  2. Press the button () to display options.
  3. Use to choose a flash mode and press .
  4. Press the shutter button all the way.

Using Wi-Fi function

Using the wireless LAN functions on the camera, you can share images (viewing images, and transferring images between the camera and smartphone) and operate the camera connecting to a smartphone with Wi-Fi connectivity.

To use this function, you must have the relevant app installed on the smartphone.
