DBS Receiver Control Suggested Location Place the DBS (Direct Broadcast Satellite) receiver on top of the VCR. Attach the VCR's Controller to the top of the VCR with the Controller’s transmitter pointed towards the DBS receiver's remote sensor. ATTENTION: The Controller can also control a cable box. Playback Features High-Speed Search ACTIVATE HIGH-SPEED SEARCH During playback or still, turn the SHUTTLE ring to the right for forward high-speed search, or to the left for reverse high-speed search. During playback or still, press FF for forward high-speed search, or REW for reverse high-speed search. To resume normal playback, press PLAY.
PLAY High-Speed Search (On the Remote Control) ACTIVATE HIGH-SPEED SEARCH During playback or still, turn the SHUTTLE ring all the way to the right for forward high-speed search, or to the left for reverse high-speed search. By releasing SHUTTLE still picture playback is selected. To resume normal playback, press PLAY.

If tracking noise appears in the picture, you can override this and make the adjustment manually. NUMBER "7" PROG. S-VHS ATTENTION FOR DBS RECEIVER USERS If you are using a DBS receiver (unless "DBS RECEIVER SET" is set to "OFF" pg. 19), the START 8:00AM BAND indication (TV or CATV DATE or DBS) appears under the 12/24/00 channel number display.
When programmes overlap each other If "PROGRAM NOT COMPLETED PROGRAM OVERLAP" appears, you have another programme overlapping the programme you have just made. The Program Check screen appears and conflicting programmes will start blinking. PROGRAM NOT COMPLETED PROGRAM OVERLAP EX. Programme 1 (you have just made) and Programme 4 overlap each other on the VHS deck.
Auto SP → EP Timer (VHS deck only) If, when recording in SP mode, there is not enough tape to record the entire program, the VCR automatically switches to EP mode to allow complete recording. This feature is especially handy when recording a program of more than 2 hours in length.
Instant Timer Recording (ITR) This easy method lets you record from 30 minutes to 6 hours (VHS) or to 120 minutes (DV) (selectable in 30-min. increments) and shuts the VCR off after recording is finished. START RECORDING Press REC on the front panel. ENGAGE ITR MODE Press REC again.
Tape Dubbing SP/EP Dubbing An Entire Cassette Because this VCR includes both a VHS deck and a DV deck, you can easily use it for dubbing without connecting any other equipment. Normal Dubbing SP/EP PLAY NOTES: There may be a discrepancy of several seconds between where you intend editing to start, and where it actually starts. Random Assemble Editing CANCEL PLAY 64-program Editing Memory (8 programmes x 8 scenes) By using the Random Assemble Editing function, you can select up to 8 scenes from a previously recorded Mini DV cassette and automatically dub them onto a VHS cassette. Random Assemble Editing is possible only when dubbing from the DV deck to the VHS deck.
