VI Service Guide CAUTION Keep water or foreign matter away from the server. Do not let any form of liquid (water etc.) or foreign matter (e.g., pins or paper clips) enter the server. Failure to follow this warning may cause an electric shock, a fire, or a failure of the server.
VII Service Guide POWER SUPPLY AND POWER CORD USE WARNING Do not hold the power plug with a wet hand. Do not disconnect/connect the plug while your hands are wet. Failure to follow this warning may cause an electric shock. Do not connect the ground wire to a gas pipe.
Page 10
VIII Service Guide Use the authorized power cord only. Use only the power cord that comes with the server. Use of an unauthorized power cord may cause a fire when the electric current exceeds the rated flow. Also, observe the following to prevent an electric shock or fire caused by a damaged cord.
Page 11
IX Service Guide RACK CAUTION Do not carry or install the server only by a single person. More than one person is required to carry or install the rack. Failure to follow this instruction may cause the rack to fall, possibly resulting in personal injury and/or breakages of surrounding devices.
Page 12
X Service Guide INSTALLATION, RELOCATION, STORAGE, AND CONNECTION WARNING Disconnect the power cord(s) before installing or removing the server. Make sure to power off the server and disconnect the power cord(s) from a power outlet before installing/removing the server. All voltage is removed only when the power cords are unplugged.
Page 13
XI Service Guide Do not apply any load on the server pulled out from the rack. Do not apply any load on the server pulled out from the rack. Doing so bends the frame of the server. Consequently, the server cannot be pushed back into the rack.
Page 14
Do not use any unauthorized interface cable. Use only interface cables provided by NEC and locate a proper device and connector before connecting a cable. Using an unauthorized cable or connecting a cable to an improper destination may cause a short circuit, resulting in a fire.
XIII Service Guide CLEANING AND WORKING WITH INTERNAL DEVICES WARNING Do not disassemble, repair, or alter the server. Never attempt to disassemble, repair, or alter the server on any occasion other than described in this Guide. Failure to follow this instruction may cause an electric shock or fire as well as malfunctions of the server.
Page 16
XIV Service Guide CAUTION Avoid installation in extreme temperature conditions. Immediately after the server is powered off, its internal components such as hard disks are very hot. Leave the server until its internal components fully cool down before installing/removing any component. Make sure to complete board installation.
XV Service Guide DURING OPERATION CAUTION Do not pull out or remove the server from the rack unnecessarily. Do not pull out or remove the server from the rack unnecessarily. Pulling out or removing the server from the rack may cause not only the server to operate incorrectly but also the server to fall on people, possibly resulting in personal injury.
Overview Rack mount models Sliding rails are provided to pull out the primary server when you install an additional option or carry out maintenance. To prevent the server from dropping, at least two persons are required to NOTE: install/remove it into/from the rack.
